What is Studio Avo?
Studio Avo (pronounced Avô) is a contemporary art producer selling unique and colorful fine art canvases to upscale retail furniture stores, gift boutiques and design studios. The company creates vivid, uplifting designs that are ideal for invigorating home, corporate, hotel, and restaurant decors.

Studio Avo offers a variety of original art from some of the nation’s most talented artists as well as form artists in Canada and Europe. Studio Avo is the sister company of Oopsy Daisy, Fine Art for Kids, a wholesale manufacturer selling art for children’s rooms. Oopsy Daisy is dedicated to making art that enriches kids’ environments by inviting interaction and creative expression. Studio Avo’s fashionable art presents a similar uplifting quality conveyed through an array of themes, from landscapes, floral and whimsical objects, to pets and hobbies, yet are more fitting to a sophisticated décor. The mediums range from oils and pastels to collage, and all share an expressive nature utilizing vivid, saturated color.
Studio Avo works with more than 30 artists and reproduces more than 150 different canvas prints sold throughout the United States and abroad. Canvas sized range from 7” x 7” décor accents to 39” x 39” or 39” x 50” décor statements.
What Makes Studio Avo art so unique?
Images created by Studio Avo are so unique because of the quality of the art itself, the creativity expressed in it, and the method of reproduction. According to President Tom Capp, “Each piece of Studio Avo art is a top quality canvas reproduction using Giclée method in which images are produced one at a time. The printers used in this method allow for an extremely high resolution of dots per inch while spraying more that 1 million droplets per second onto the canvas.” This yields a higher resolution than a traditional lithographic print and has a wider color spectrum than serigraphy. Since no screens are used in the Giclée method, these prints produce deep, saturated colors and excellent detail, making the piece look like an original painting.
Once the canvas is printed, it is hand-stretched over wood bars. The sides include a decorative edge, so no framing is necessary. The prints are easy to hand and each piece comes with the artist’s biography attached to the back.
This style of canvas art is perfect for display at home as well as for exhibition in public interiors such as corporate offices, restaurants and hotels. It is safe, durable, and easy to clean.

Studio Avo works with more than 30 accomplished artists and illustrators. According to Vice President Karen Capp, “Artists come to us from all directions – admiring art on our travels, being exposed to a myriad of artists along with California coastline, and other influences. We’ve even selected an artist who has created a wine label illustration we like. We see art in everything, and when we like someone’s work, we seek out the artist.”
Background
In 1999, San Diego couple Karen and Tom Capp, while trying to decorate their baby's nursery discovered that fine art for kids just didn't exist. They wanted to decorate with art that would reflect their child's originality, as well as enrich their child's life by bringing a sense of playfulness and joy into the room. They couldn't find engaging, imaginative and colorful art for children anywhere, so they went in search of an artist who could create it.
Studio Avo was born of Oopsy Daisy, Fine Art for Kids’ success. Adults were frequently expressing the desire to decorate their surroundings with art that expressed a similar joyous quality. Studio Avo art has a clean, contemporary feel that works with the decorating of today. It is modern and fresh, yet accessible art that speaks to its audience. Oopsy Daisy art is manufactured in San Diego, California where the wood is cut, frames are built and canvases are printed, stretched, and hand painted with personalized details. The art also is shipped from the warehouse to retailers all over the U.S. and abroad.
